Obamacare is making a difference in people’s lives all over Wisconsin with affordable premiums and tax credits to help you cover the costs.

The most recent numbers from early January show that nearly 2.3 million people now have coverage thanks to Obamacare. Many of these people did not have access to coverage prior to the law.

Of these, more than 40,000 of those newly covered are in Wisconsin.

But there are many more people eligible to receive coverage through the marketplace and there is still time to meet the March 31 open enrollment deadline.

If the cost of coverage is a concern for your family, you may be eligible for subsidies in the health insurance marketplace or public programs.

It’s estimated that about 6 in 10 eligible uninsured African Americans could obtain Health Insurance Marketplace tax credits, the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) or Medicaid.

So health coverage is within reach and available to meet your budget.

Obamacare provides coverage for needed health services.

Preventive care —including vaccines, screenings for blood pressure, cholesterol, and diabetes can help detect illnesses before they are a problem— are now covered free of charge.

In the past, uninsured Americans with pre-existing conditions were often denied health coverage benefits, now no one can be denied coverage because they are sick or have a pre-existing condition like asthma, diabetes or even cancer.

With the March 31st deadline for open enrollment rapidly approaching it is crucial that we use the next two months to let our friends, family and neighbors know how important it is to get covered and how affordable it can be.
